Casio has developed a new high speed CMOS/LSI technology (complementary metal oxide semiconductor large-scale integration) which allows their just released Exilim EX-FH20 camera to process the data generated as you shoot 40 high resolution images in just one second. This high speed LSI makes it possible to create the following entirely new camera features.
Pre-record
When set to the Pre-record mode the camera automatically starts recording high resolution photos at half shutter press. At full shutter press it retains 40 images with the one you clicked directly in the middle.
High Speed Night Scene
Select this Best Shot Feature and you can take great handheld night photos. At the click of the shutter the camera takes 40 photos in one second and then its onboard computer layers them together so many under-exposed images become one fantastic photo.
High Speed Anti-Shake
The high-speed Anti-Shake Best Shot mode performs the same multiple image fusion to eliminate blur when shooting without a tripod. This is especially useful if you are pushing the 20 optical zoom to its greatest magnification for a hand held shot (26mm to 520 mm).
Multi-Motion Image
Set the Best Shot Feature to this mode and record your friend performing a skateboard stunt. You hold the camera steady as it takes rapid photographs of the scene. The camera's onboard computer will fuse these photos into one picture. This photo will show your friend multiple times, in the same picture, as if the stunt was being performed by a set of quintuplets.
Digital Panning
Set this Best Shot Feature to capture a fast moving object. While panning the camera to follow the action, press the shutter to tell the camera to take rapid photographs of the scene. The camera's onboard computer will fuse these photos into one picture that shows the fast moving object in focus with the background of the image fully blurred. The camera is producing the same effect that you would normally get if you were shooting your still photo moving at the same speed as the object that you are photographing.
Casio's new high speed LSI allows for other interesting features not mentioned above. A full review of this camera is in the works; but timing is everything so I decided to introduce it to you now just in case you are planning a new digital camera purchase before the end of the year.
